My daughter and I both have hypothyroidism and both of our ANAs are slightly elevated. I know how you feel...I suffered with symptoms my entire life, and was never tested for hypothyroidism because of the MYTH that people with underactive thyroids are ALWAYS overweight (I'm considered thin)...I finally ended up in the Emergency Room with severe chest pain at the age of 38 before they found out my thyroid was basically non-functional. I was sent to an endocrinologist, who immediately asked me if I had a daughter and I said yes, but she's only 14...he said to bring her in because hypothyroidism is sometimes passed from mother to daughter...he tested her, and sure enough...she was hypothyroid as well and was put on supplements...thankfully she won't have to go through a lifetime of people thinking she's just a hypochondriac...like I was.
